A Failed Tutorial: Elmers Glue Art

Okay,
So this project looked way cooler on
           pinterest,
than what mine turned out to be.

{I guess that's why I blog right..
so you don't make my same mistakes?!}

I'm kinda sad. Oh well :)

...anyways!
Elmers glue art.
Pretty self explainatory...

MATERIALS:
* Canvas
* Elmers Glue
* Paint {I used spray paint... at first}

To start:
     I drew lightly with pencil
        what I wanted to outline in glue.
{I decided to write
"Do more of what makes you happy"
{I would not advise doing a quote... }
       & also a seperate design}

I messed up a couple times
               &&  lightly erased the lines.
{I didn't worry about them too much
        because I knew I'd paint over them}

After your done drawing
outline everything in glue.

HERE'S WHERE I MESSED UP:
- Keep in mind the amount of glue that you
squeeze matters... I tried to put a consistent amount
out... but when it dried... it was still squiggly :(

Now..
being the problem solver that I am...
I figured I could just put another coat of glue on everything
to even out the lines..
                  Looks good right?
                               WRONG.

      DO NOT DO WHAT I DID.
                    {it did not help...}

So after two coats of glue,
my quote was still hard to read.
       {Boooo... What now?!}

   Well I needed to paint it
so maybe that might help
        my quote stand out more.
&& not look so messy.

Attempted the spray paint.
            ...It was terrible.
Didn't spray right, wasn't even working,
didn't cover my pencil lines...
         {You've gotta be kidding me right?!}

PART 2:
After deciding Elmers glue wasn't going to be the end of me,
&& taking a couple day's break from this horrific project,
                     I was ready to conquer this canvas.

MATERIALS II:
* Paint
* Paint brush or roller {I used a roller}
* Paint thinner {Optional, I used it}
* Small cup for mixing

Okay taking this slow...
      Paint the canvas, Easy enough right?

...Two coats of paint later,
the design looks good...
but my quote is still an
              Epic Fail.

{Maybe hanging it on my wall will make it look better...}
                           AKA: Can this project get any worse?!

{"Barely"
           -Yeah that's what I thought.
                            it's in "high contrast" too... }

      By this time
I'm literally cussing at my wall.
-I guess not every project is as easy as it seems,
&& "Elmers glue on canvas"
                  is terribly decieving.

Awesome.
I have a 24x36'' canvas
           that looks like nothing

SHARPIES!
{Sharpies fix everything}

Armed with a bold tipped sharpie,
           I'm determined to slay this Elmer's art.
{or at least make it stand out for gosh sakes}

An hour later I'm done outlining
          "Do More"
&& my sharpie dies.
I'm uber thrilled to make
another trip to the store
for this f***ing stupid project.
                    ...UGH!

{To be completely honest:
               I even hate blogging about this...
        that's why it's taken me so long to post!}

Okay.
Four. Count em... 4. Four. IV.
sharpies later along with
                  five long hours...

It's donezo...
                Boom.

The project from hell is
      put to the ultimate test

{to be hung on the wall and look decent}

Eh... Meh... Sure... Maybe... Pushing it...

Maybe there will be a
Part Three
               someday,
where I wash the whole canvas
                abstract style
with a light lime/yellow green
that's accented in my room.

Or maybe
I just paint my whole wall in my room
so the painting finally stands out.

Mac & Cheese Monster

This whole post
is self explainatory...

  Hi,
       this is my daughter
Baby Bella...
         she loves mac & cheese
{not eating it,
               ...wearing it}

These are all of her
{daily} expressions.

&& Now you know why
      I don't E.V.E.R.
live a dull life

No Bake- Peanut Butter Pretzel Bites

Yum. 
Pinterest you got me again.

Are you ready to try these babies for yourself?

WARNING:
These contain a high sugar & butter content
that may cause you to crave more... adding
unexpected calories to your daily diet.
                                                             :)

INGREDIENTS:
* 1 cup creamy peanut butter {I used Jif Creamy}
* 2 tbsp softened butter
* 1/2 cup powdered sugar- maybe more {I used 3/4 cup}
* 3/4 cup brown sugar- maybe more {I used 3/4 cup}
* Pretzels
* 1 bag  semi-sweet chocolate chips {only needed a half bag}

First,
cream together
1 cup peanut butter
& 2 tbsp softened butter



Next, add both sugars:

1/2 cup powdered sugar

& 3/4 cup packed brown sugar

Check your batter

              to make sure it's not sticky

{you'll need to be able to roll it in a ball}

If it ends up being

                 sticky like mine...

       add more powdered sugar.

{I ended up using 3/4 cup total powdered sugar

                 && 3/4 cup brown sugar}

After adding more powdered sugar,

        take a TSP measurement

amount of your mixture

        & smash it inbetween

   two pretzels.

Finish this process

         till you run out of dough

Stick them in the freezer for

                       approximate 30 minutes,

             {or until the dough is hard}

Once they've chilled

it's time to start prepping the

       chocolate.

Place chocolate chips in a

        {microwave safe} container

& heat in increments of 30 seconds,

        stirring inbetween.

CAUTION:

     If this step is done wrong

            {aka... heating them up for a full 2 minutes}

you'll end up with burnt chocolate chips,

                 a smelly microwave

     & throw out a half bag of delicious chocolate.

          {LIKE ME! UGH!}

While the chocolate chips

            are heating {slowly}

Place a piece of parchment paper

on a plate to help with sticking

       when the chocolate dries.

After your chocolate is fully melted

dip half of your peanut butter bite

                into the chocolate

& place it onto your parment plate.

{Repeat this process till they are all dipped

& place in the freezer again}

Once the chocolate is hardened...

keep in the refrigerator until served.

       && ENJOY.

Frosted Nail Art: A Tutorial

Once again
I was getting my daily
fix of Pinterest in
& I came across this picture.

It seemed easy enough to do
so I tried it... 

it really {was} super easy
& looks awesome too!

Materials:

• Your choice of glittery nail polish {I chose silver obviously}
• An eyeshadow applicator {I used the Non-Green side... lol}
• Clear coat nail polish {not pictured}

First, take the nail polish tip
&& dab a bit of glitter
onto your eye shadow applicator.

Then sponge it down your nail,
so it thins out
&& gives it a {frosted} effect.

Repeat.

Once the glitter is dry
 apply a clear coat.

Voila.
Pretty {Frosted} Nails!

These would be perfect for winter.

A Birthday Party Invite

Last night was another first
for Baby Bella.

A couple weeks ago
she got invited to her
first Birthday Party!

Her little friend
{Addy}
was turning three
and having a
princess BBQ to
           celebrate.

Baby Bella had such a good time
playing with all of the other kids.
& the wonderful birthday girl
even shared her bracelet with
my Baby Bella.

What a lovely little lady Addy is!

We had hot dogs,
hamburgers, chips,
veggies, and cupcakes.

But all Baby Bella wanted
were Chicken in a Buscuit crackers.
            {She was even willing to share}

After opening presents,
pulling a pinyata, running for candy
& eating {just the frosting} off
her cupcake...
         Baby Bella was ready for bed.

Birthday parties are lots of work
so we'd like to thank {Sammi} for
inviting us, putting everything together,
& spending hours making homemade cupcakes
{with homemade frosting}
      they were absolutely delicious!
                       :)

Cupboard Play

Baby Bella is always
doing something silly.

So last night while I was
doing dishes.

She decided to play
a little game of
hide & seek...
                        {Kitchen Style}

Peek-A-Boo
             I see youuu!

To me...

It was almost like
     one of those magic tricks
where the girl looks bigger than the box,
but somehow..
          she fits, everytime.

....Or something like that.

A Surprise from Picasso

I should start a column
devoted just to how much I love
Baby Bella's daycare.

I mean seriously...
between book orders,
     "what I did today" sheets,
receiving pictures of Baby Bella during playtime,
   && a great staff
I couldn't have asked for a better place
      to have my precious baby girl at
80+ hours a week.

But wait...
this is like the icing on the cake.

Look what I found in her "folder" today :)

... Her First Piece of ART!
{Not to mention the words:
          love you this much!}

My little lady is going to be a Picasso.

Yes. I know they are just scribbles,
       {probably with the help of an adult.}
& the words were already printed...
But those tiny little scribbles belong to
      my beautiful Baby Bella.
&& they were made by her
for me.

{Talk about being a proud Momma,
this is going straight to the fridge.}
